if there's anything i learnt from this whole work experience, is that work is not as easy as i thought it was. i used to thinking working was much more fun than having to study for exams, but now maybe i'm starting to take back those words.

firstly, you have to get a job you REALLY like if not you'll be miserable. not just the work per se (and the pay of course), but i guess you have to find some way to like the environment u're in, be happy with the people you're with cos i realise the happiest people in the agency are those who have honest friendships in the company and not just superficial working relationships.

secondly, it's not the working 9-5 part that's difficult, but the part about having to respect whoever's above you no matter what, the part where you have to ALMOST ALWAYS be careful not to screw up in whatever you do/say whether at work or out of work, the part where because the industry is so small and the turnover rate is very high, your reputation follows you through whether positively or negatively.

wah i have alot of things to take note of when i go into the workforce for real next time, esp the part about being cautious with my words/actions.

but right now, at least im glad in in the SCB team of TBWA (pity i couldnt make the team rooftop BBQ last fri cos of St Regis), and work is feeling a whole lot like school now (minus the homework and much much more gossip hence the revelations above). even if they make me do boring stuff like competitor review and media monitoring (tearsheets) but still it beats the previous dept i was in 1000x. cos the team's really bonded (haha we're having a F21 and VS spree btw) and they're a nice bunch whom i'll be sad to leave when the time comes. which is really soon by the way, 11th July Friday Confirmed. i decided to scrap the BKK with ys idea and save the $$ for an Aug dive trip with the colleagues.

that's hopefully SMU hasn't swamped me with things then and even if they have, i will DEFINITELY find some way to make time to get my open waters cert in Tioman.
